Here are the list of books, a SQL Server DBA must Read. These books contain valuable information about SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 internal Functioning and how-to and anybody interested in learning about the same SHOULD read these. Windows Internal will give you and insight into many Question you might have regarding Processor or Memory / Processes etc (good Read)
Of course there are Tons of Whitepaper’s too, but i will list the ones i have read and found interesting and useful. (All are written by experts, so if i haven’t read those, it doesn’t mean they are not useful. All the Whitepapers and other information elsewhere is useful in some respect or the other)
I will list some whitepapers, that provide immense knowledge for the SQL Server DBA.
